MORE for Children Background Information

Lehigh County is investing over $120,000.00 of hotel tax revenue for the MORE for Children program for the 2007-2008 school year. The Lehigh Valley Business Education Partnership, a non- profit, educational advocate, strongly supports this program and serves as the vehicle to distribute dollars from potential business contributors. The program which was piloted in the 2002-2003 school year continues to provide funding to twenty-one school systems in the Lehigh Valley.

Education Committee
This valued group of local educators and school administrators has certified that participating destinations have programming aligned to academic standards. The committee was restructured in 2007 to include the co-founders of the committee, Bill and Helen Ayers, along with the More for Children coordinators and the venue education managers. This group will continue to be instrumental in developing teacher-friendly materials, approving pre and post trip materials as well as reviewing the educational values attached to each program.
