The Lehigh Valley Zoo, located on the 1,100-acre Trexler Nature Preserve in Schnecksville, is a 29-acre AZA-accredited not-for-profit zoo that is home to approximately 70 different species of wildlife from around the world. Some new animal ambassadors to the Lehigh Valley Zoo include African Penguins, Scimitar-horned Oryx, Grant's Zebra, Kookaburra, and Bobcat.

Education programs are offered year-round, rain or shine. Please make reservations in advance.

The Lehigh Valley Zoo is open seven days a week year-round, except Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year's Day.

Please note: In order to qualify for these rates, admission for the whole group must be paid at one time. Groups should arrive together; those that do not must pre-pay for their WHOLE group. Children under age 2 DO NOT qualify toward total head count of 15 individuals.

Chaperones:
Teachers and chaperones are free of charge up to the ration limit. The minimum acceptable ratio for chaperones to students is 1:10, regardless of age, $4.50 will be charged for each additional chaperone and/or teacher above the 1:10 ratio.

New Route to Zoo                                                             


*PennDOT has closed its covered bridge on Game Preserve Road until further notice!*


Please use this alternate route to visit the Zoo:
From Routes 22 and I-78, follow Route 309 North for approximately 8-9 miles. You will PASS Game Preserve Road and the entrance sign for Lehigh Valley Zoo, and instead follow PennDOT alternate bus route signs. Turn left onto Mill Creek Road and follow it to the end, where it forms a "T" with Game Preserve Road. Make a left onto Game Preserve Road. The main vehicle entrance to the Zoo is less than a mile ahead on your right. Once you have entered the main vehicle gates, follow the one-way road to the Lehigh Valley Zoo parking area and entrance
Directions below applicable to the covered bridge routes will resume when the covered bridge is re-opened.


FOR BUSES:
Buses will not clear the covered bridge located on Game Preserve Road. Please use the alternate route below.

From Interstate 78 East and Route 22 East and West:
Take Route 309 North for approximately 6-7 miles. Once you enter the town of Schnecksville, you will come to a "Y" in the road, Rt. 309 and Rt. 873. Bear to the left and remain on Route 309 for approximately one mile. Make a left turn onto Mill Creek Road. You will come to a "T" after about 2-3 miles. Make a left onto Game Preserve Road. After 1/4 of a mile you will see the Main Entrance Gate on your right. From Interstate 78 West: Take Route 100 North for 6-7 miles. Make the next right, after you pass the Bear's Classic Cars (on the right), onto Kistler Road. Follow this for about 5 miles while following signs for the Lehigh Valley Zoo. Make a right onto Game Preserve Road. If your continue straight at this point you will be on a "no outlet" road. Follow Game Preserve Road for approximately 6 miles. The Lehigh Valley Zoo Main Entrance Gate will be on your right.

From points north:
Take Route 100 South and follow the directions from Interstate 78 West or take Route 309 South and follow the directions from Route 22 West.

FOR CARS:
From Route 78 East or Route 22 West and East:
Take Route 309 North for approximately 6-7 miles. Once you enter the town of Schnecksville, make a left turn onto Game Preserve Road. Follow this for about 2 1/2 mile and cross the covered bridge. After a 1/4 of a mile, the Main Entrance will be on your left.

In Case of an Emergency/First Aid:
 First aid is located in the Administration Building. Children who are lost will be brought to this office.


Special Needs:
The zoo portion of the Lehigh Valley Zoo is wheel chair accessible. A limited number of wheel chairs are available for visitors to use during their visit at the Lehigh Valley Zoo. We would like to make your time here as enjoyable as possible so please let us know how we can best meet your needs.


Restroom Facilities:
 The Lehigh Valley Zoo has two sets of restroom facilities. One is located inside the Administration Building, while the other set is located across from the Lorikeet Exhibit. Please refer to the map for exact locations. The Lehigh Valley Zoo offers a variety of educational programs, which are run through the zoo’s Conservation Education Department. For further information regarding program availability, rices, or booking a program, please contact the zoo’s Education Department at 610.799.4171, Ext. 229, or Ext. 238, or Ext. 227.
