A CENTURY AT BURNSIDE PLANTATION - 2 1/2 hrs. - includes all 5 units below.
AT HOME ON THE FARM - 1 1/2 hrs. - includes units 1-3 below.
AT WORK ON THE FARM - 1 1/2 hrs. - includes units 3-5 below.
- "Little Cot" - Students hear basic information about James and Mary Burnside and their farmhouse "Little Cot." Using a copy of the original estate inventory, students search for "out of place" items in the house and, in the process, discover the lifestyles of its inhabitants.

- From Field, Garden and Orchard to the Table - Students learn about early foodways and the importance of the farm, orchard and kitchen garden to an early American family. Students perform a typical kitchen task and have a taste of a favorite colonial food in the summer kitchen.

- The Ecology and Economy of the Farm - Students discover how early settlers provided for their needs through thoughtful use of their environment and a resourceful, frugal lifestyle. A thought-provoking match game proves that colonial Americans were ingenious recyclers.

- The Barn - Students explore various parts of the barn to understand the importance of this structure to the life of the farm.
